If an angler likes long shanked hooks, this is the spinnerbait for him. Long shank hooks sometimes increase hook-up percentage as well as eliminate the need for a trailer hook. The blade placement on the Double Willow is also very effective. In all good spinnerbaits, the front blade doesn’t need to be much below the eye of the second blade. If the front blade is below, it steals water from the second blade and won’t turn as true as it is intended to.
Some anglers really like the different look of painted blades, which is the only difference between the Picasso Double Willow Painted and the Picasso Double Willow Gold/Nickel. Giving the fish something different to look at is never a bad idea, and with any painted blades, you want to ‘match the hatch.’ It all depends on watercolor and what bait fish you are trying to imitate.
